Sedona, Arizona, October 2019
Elevation: 4350 feet

On my Suzuki, heading north of Tucson again, for my first visit to Sedona, known as Red Rock Country. This trip covered half the distance and half the time compared to my ride to the Grand Canyon a couple of months ago. But now, accompanied by an impossibly blue sky, I had glorious weather full-time.
In the same way I mentioned as futile attempts to describe the Grand Canyon, so it is with Sedona. I'm not going to toss out a series of cliches or adjectives to describe what I don't think anyone can describe. Like many of you, I have traveled around the world and have been lucky enough to see scores of overwhelming topographies and landscapes. The Grand Canyon aside, Sedona is the most beautiful place I've ever been.

My route

Oak Creek
The border between Oak Creek and Sedona was fuzzy at best.

Entering the village of Oak Creek, just south of Sedona. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express that you can see on the left side of the photograph.

Main entrance to Tlaquepaque, an outdoor arts shopping area. I must confess I walked through all the galleries in Tlaquepaque and didn't care for any of them except for Carré D'Artistes.

My keepsake of Sedona, which I bought at Exposures International Gallery of Fine Art. The other galleries I liked in town were the two Bryant Nagel galleries—Lanning and Turquoise Tortoise—and Gallery of Modern Masters, all on state road 179, south of the Uptown area, and within fifty yards of each other.

Next stop: Yuma, probably in November.
